Fishing
Does anyone know of any parks in the north of England that have fishing on site?
Its one thing I have promised myself in retirement!

Don't worry about old age; it doesn't last long!

Hi Terry
I have found Hambleton Country Park, Polton le Fylde, Lancashire has fishing in stocked pools.
For river fishing I have found Cunninghamhead Estate in Ayrshire, Radcliffe Park in Nottinghamshire, although that may not be far north enough for you! There is also Oversley Mill Park , Alcester in the MIdlands if you think you could come a little further south.
I am sure that there are many, many more, but the park owners haven't ticked the right box to let us know. Lets hope some more forum members know of some more.
Regards
Ed.
Hi Ed.
I'm pretty open minded about what and where at the moment, so all info. is appreciated.
I might have to renew my passport if I were to travel too far south!
Terry
Hi Terry,
I am a keen fisherman too, I always look for fishing on site when I go away in my caravan. Actually living next to a lake sounds like heaven, I suppose its the next best thing after having a lake in your own garden.
Good luck with your search
Gary
Hi Gary,
We also have a caravan, but it is hardly used as I drive so much during the week that I really dont want to pull a tin shed around at the weekend.
We have decided to put it up for sale, but I might regret it as I may retire next year.
Terry
Hi Terry.
We live in Lincolnshire which is "norf of Watford" but is that too far east for you?
Whilst looking for the right Park Home we visited a small site in Ruskington Lincs, my old man was told there was fishing pools behind the site, down the lane. Needless to say we looked no further and have been here 3 years. I know of 1/2 sites in Lincs that have fishing on site but they are not fully residential. But considering the amount of days off he needs from doing any gardening/decorating etc there must loooooadesof fishing in and around us.
Hope you find utopia I know Mike has.
Pat
Hi Pat,
Lincolnshire is on our list of possible final nesting sites!
We have been to Ruskington and found it to be a lovely town. Just the right size for us regartding shops, pubs etc.
One of our other favourites is Nettleham.
Whether we end up in a Park Home or bungalow remains to be seen, but we will definately explore both options.
Great to see you have found your ideal site (or at least Mike has!).
Is there room for two on that pond?

Terry
Sorry rusty, I've got to own up to chatting about angling in the wrong place, but I feel sure you'll give me some leeway, due to my advancing years.
Have you got any nice little pics of fish,'cos they may be the only ones I see, the way my matches are going.
I'm in a pensioners contest on Thursday at Bidford on Avon.
Someone will blow a whistle at 9am.
Then there'll be a mad scramble. Crutches and zimmers thrashing through the long grass.
Everyone trying to locate the safest peg to fish from for the next five hours.
They'll anchor their wheelchairs to a branch by means of a sturdy rope, and, when we're well tied up tight, in goes the bait..
(That reminds me,I must make a point of calling at Morrison's fish counter, sometime during tomorrow for a few odds and ends)
Did you notice evergreen's recent claim to have caught a 25 pounder. I think she was just trying to make me feel inadequate.
Yes mate------- I was thinking the same meself !!
ps I've started work on an Ark, 'cos Droitwich gets real wet during the rainy season !!
Keep dry granddad.
Hello rusty,
I was hoping for something of those dimensions today, but as the river was flooded,we had to troop off to the nearest canal,'cos you have to throw your maggots in somewhere.
Had a cracking day. Soaked to the bl--dy skin Ended up with more than 20 fish. Unfortunately they only weighed 8ozs.all together.
Got 4th place,but I'm thinking it's about time I packed it in !
Just about dried out. goodnight granddad.
Better luck next time.
4th aint so bad, especially if there more than 4 fishing!
As far as packing it in, it wont be long before the "do gooders" ban the drowning of maggots as cruelty!

Rusty
Awww grandad sounds as if you had a brilliant day !!! getting wet through is part of the fun lol, nothing a good soak and a wee dram afterwards wouldnt cure, dont give up, theres always the next bite...the next bite ... the next bite rofl..evergreen
Your spot on about it being cruel, rusty.
It's nothing short of disgraceful.----- expecting a man of my age and afflictions to sit by the cut in weather like
we had yesterday, just to feed the fish and the ducks and the swans and the robins and the rats and the
passing dogs, and, all out of our own pension money.
It wasn't much fun,I can assure you evergreen, but it would be very difficult to give up a habit of a lifetime.
Never mind, off to Pembrokeshire next Saturday for one week's relaxation, so get your sun blocker out, 'cos it's always good weather when I go away.
The terms 'sunshine' and 'righteous' come to mind.
Roll on next week bye for now granddad
You were absolutely right.
Its been great weather here this week!
When are you next away?
I shall plan any days out or holidays around that date.
rusty
Hi there,rusty,
I'm off to Devon, four weeks today--so get your planner out. It'll be a guaranteed scorching week.
bye now,from a more rusty than rusty,granddad.
