overhanging tree branches

#0, by robfair, 02 October 2011 07:55 PM

hi all,can anybody tell me if i have the right to cut back overhanging branches from our neibours trees.they are not on the park home land but they are 50 feet high and the branches come well over into our back garden by some 8 or 9 feet, and when the wind blows these trees move and if one or more were to topple it would flatten my park home.also most of the afending branches that are overhanging are all brown or appear to be dying ,so any help on this subject would be a great help before i approach the tree owner.thanks bobby f,

Hi Bobby, I hope your project is going well wink

On the subject of overhanging tree branches, I think it's something you have to take up with the neighbouring land owner.

I recently worked on a Park in Dorset where the same problem was being experienced by residents. There was a tree surgeon there at the same time as us, who had been engaged by the Park management, because the dangerous trees were wholly on the Park itself.

Sorry I can't be of more help, but I'd suggest doing a video of the tree branches moving in the wind and some photographic evidence to support your case before you approach him/her.
