Exterior Painting

#0, by jah, 21 October 2011 06:15 PM

My double unit is due for a exterior painting.

Anything wrong in using Sandtex, or is the extra cost for PTC or Resitex worth it?

They are a substantial higher cost difference, and if a park home requires painting every 3 years, I'm thinking "use good stuff, but no need to go for a high cost product"  Sandtex has a 15 year guarantee - seems good.

i`ve just used sandtex for first painting of our unit, took a couple of coats but we were changing the colour, some on our site have used sandtex for years other use resitex, just make sure you fill any cracks even hairline ones and dont do it in wet weather
bought the sandtex online 30% cheaper than b&q

we have used Sandtex for 3 paintings now and it is very successful
It does bring me to anther question of how often should we paint as we do it every three years

Im enjoying every day --so should you

Sandtex is for brick work and will rot your timber restex and resfine does not go hard and enables the timer to breath contract and retract bad move using sandtex its not fit for purpose

odd that our neighbour then has used sandtex for 20 years or more with no ill effects, and others use it successfully,i think its all down to choice tbh

Woody im only going on manufacturers instructions so why do new park homes painted with resetex and resefine because its specialy formulated for timber built dwellings you look on the Sandtex tin it says for brick work building and thats the reason
