Residents Association

#0, by nbjasmineweyr, 27 November 2011 10:22 AM

Can someone advise me if I am able to be the secretary of our yet unacknowledged association if my husbands name is first on the agreement . In fact can I even be in the association ? Our park owner refuses to acknowledge the association as he thinks its more trouble than its worth !!! Our current water rates are £41 per month and we are trying to sort this out using the medium of the association ( not very successfully as yet i'm afarid)

Hi nbjasmineweyr and welcome to the forum

Why not visit our Downloads page and download the Government's Park Home Factsheet on Qualifying Resident's Associations.

This does specifically say that where there is more than one person living in the park home, it is the person who's name first appears on the agreement shall be the member. The officers and the committee are then elected by the membership. There is no reason why you can't attend any of the meetings. it is just that there is only one vote per household.

Your park owner does not have a choice of whether he recognises your Resident's Association or not. Providing you have at least 50% of the homes on the park in membership, he is required by recent legislation to recognise you.

Regards

Ed.
