We have just received our rise for Jan 2012 which is £6.75. I know the Park Owner has costs to run the Park, But a lot of residents feel this rise is to much and some residents will feel the pinch, we have a QRA how do the QRA stand if they do not agree with this rise , after all this rise and exsisting pitch fee this will bring in the site owner around £100.000 plus per year, and nothing can be seen that they have done to inprove the park , some of our resident are on low income how do they stand if they can not afford this increase?

Hi trev

What you don't give us is the per centage increase of your rent increase. If that is within the RPI figure then there is little you, or the resident's association can do about it. Go to our 'Downloads' page and download the Government's Parkhome Factsheet 'Pitch Fees and other payments to the Site Owner'.

The fact that, with the increase will bring the Park Owner in around £100,000 plus, has nothing to do with it. You must remember, that although this is where you live, it is also a business and the Park Owner must see a return on his investment. If they don't, he/she could sell up and invest their money in something else.

yes we understand that the increase is within the Rpi, but we have had no maintainace to the site for at least 5 years ,gutter need cleaned ,only 4 lights on a park of 52 units lamp post never seen a coat of paint, drains get blocked etc,Boundery trees need looping, as our  site is on the side of a hiil we asked the site owner for some grit bins so we could grit the road in bad weather ,only to be told you are OLD and should not go out ,if they are running a business surley they should put something back into it

Regarding insufficient street lighting and lack of grit in winter you should remind your park owner that they have a legal duty of care for residents using the park infrastructure - if you get no response then you could complain to the district council's environmental health officer.

.......Park should provide you Grit Bins but i suppose this would become an additional burden and cost to the park operator especially if they have never provided them before so in effect it would be an improvement! My advice is for the residents to club together and pay for the grit salt to be filled and refilled and i am sure the park owner would then provide a grit bin

Interesting answer.

Is that the way forward for all Park Resident / Owner disputes then? The residents sort it while the Park Owner stands idly by?

What's your solution to the problem of the residents of a Park in the Lake District that have been waiting for a road for ten years? Buy it themselves? Then let the Park Owner claim it as an improvement?

Parkinsider really does live in a cocoon.

We have over 1,700 parks on our database and having been around for a while, I know that the majority of park owners do not grit their roads, whether it is right or whether it is wrong. If they did, it wouldn't constantly come up as a topic on this forum.
