Part Exchange Park Home Exeter

#0, by leebert, 02 January 2012 01:27 PM

Hi

I own a much modernised and secluded park home just outside Exeter and am looking to move closer into the City.Does anyone know of a company or any of the house builders that would buy a Park Home or p/ex one for a bricks and mortar one of their own?

I am quite disabled and quite honestly I think the stress and strain do selling my home would be too much, even though it is a beautifully located and appointed home.

Your replies would be really appreciated

Many thanks and a Happy New Year to one and all.

Hi Leebert

Happy New Year and welcome to the forum.

Sadly, it can't work that way. Your home must be purchased by someone who is going to live in it.

You could try and sell through our Park Home website and also on Right Move. Just out of interest, which park is your home sited on? My late husband and I used to own a park just outside Exeter on the side of the River Exe.

Ed.

Hi Leebert
Have you approched the local council about housing, as I beleive people who live in mobile homes are classed as living in temporary accommadation and can put there names on the housing waiting list,,also imform them that you are quite disabled. A lady on our site has just moved into a council run warden assisted ground floor flat as she could not cope with living in her park home, which as now been sold .
So if you where given a council accommadation you could put your home up for sale

Hello  trev ....this  is news  to  me  that  people  living  in  park  homes  are  classed  as  living  in  temp  accommodation....I  applied  for  council  accommodation  for  various  reasons, and  was  told  that  my  home  was  substantial   for  my  purpose..but I  was  placed  on  the  list  category  G !! so  six  people  would  have  to  turn  a property  down  before  I  even  had  a  look  at  it ....which  tells  me  everything, could  even  be  the  devil  and  the  deep  blue  sea lol....homes  dont  seem  to  be  selling  well  at  present  like  bricks  and  morter  too ...homes  on  our  site  been  up  for  sale  for  months  now.......evergreen

Hello evergreen,

The unit opposite us has been up for sale for nearly three years now.   It is a 1987 Tingdene villa double and originally went on the market for £120,000 but is now advertised at £75,000!  Sales are taking place on our park but mostly of newer double units - there are a considerable number of older singles that just won't sell - I believe that they are in just too poor a condition due to lack of proper care and maintenance.
The one thing that a lot of people don't seem to ever come to terms with that all park homes, even brand new ones, are at the end of the day no more than hi-tech wooden boxes and need to be looked after properly from day one.  We bought our unit 6 years ago and have expended considerable sums of money since then getting it up to scratch.  In the next few weeks we will be having it re-roofed and reclad (properly may I add) and hopefully this should see us through the next fifteen years or so.

Thanks evergreen,

We moved here from South Wales and although we both loved the valley life we have never regretted moving onto our wonderful park on the flatlands.
Going back to maintenance issues - have you any homes on your park that have pebble-dash finish? - we have a few and it would seem that they are particularly prone to exterior deteriation.  On most of them you can clearly see the interior framework through the outside walls which indicates that the cladding is wearing out much more quickly than the traditional finish does and needs to be replaced with someting more suitable.  There is a recent fad for having a mobile home clad in a resin/silicon compound based material but I remain to be convinced that there is anything more suitable than the traditional plywood/stucco finish.
