Waste Problem in Drains

#0, by onehandycall, 25 January 2012 11:09 AM

On our site we are constantly getting a problem with our drains that is our waste it blocks up they come out and clear it then someone else's gets blocked up and the problem goes round and round.
I have been informed by several residents this happens all the time due to underground pipes being broken but the owner will not pay the money to get them fixed.
My worry is as our waste pipe is right under my small boys room this is a serious health problem and our pitch is not a concreat slab it is layed on cruse concrete so it is socking in to this when it blocks.
As we pay our water rates to a outside Company wonder if it is better calling them to come out and have a look so the problem can be sorted once and for all.
Many Thanks

We had very similar problems with our drain/sewer network for a very long time.  Eventually our park warden narrowed the problem down to two or three lengths of underground pipes - he 'rods' these pipes twice every week and blockages are now virtually a thing of the past.
Of course if you actually have broken underground pipes this is a serious matter as the ground around them will become contaminated and this contamination will gradually work it's way up to the surface.  Have you thought of contacting the Environmental Health officer at your council and seeing what they have to say about it?

That's good advice emrys. I was going to suggest the same thing.

Hello  onehandycall    I  had  problems  with  my  sewrage  pipes, I  couldnt  flush  the  loo  or  have  a  shower  because  of  water  feeding  back ,  four  times  this  happened  but  NEVER  the  sites  fault, the  last  time  I  waited  three  weeks  for  somthing  to  be  done, so  in  the  end  I  rang  our  local  environmental  officer  who  soon  had  things  moveing  in  more  ways  than  one lol ...............but  my  point  being ...if  there  is  suspicion  of  any  broken  pipes  the  council  can  force  the  site  owner  to  pay  to  have  a  camera  put  inside the  pipes  to  check  for  damage,  hope  this  was  of  some  use  to  you ....evergreen

Thank you For all your advise as we are new to staying in a Park Home as used to staying in brick an mortar.
We would not put up with drains causing us a problem at our last house and dont see why we should expect any difference from staying in a Park Home.
It was reported this Morning and then again later this Afternoon but still no joy so I went out and pulled my sleeves up as the boss in doors could not get the washing done etc.
When I removed the waste pipes from a whole in the ground which is set in to a pipe I felt loads of stones at the bend of the pipe but could only get a certain amount out so it is blocked by these stones.
The only place I can see where these stones are coming from is the crushed concrete around the hole which has no cover hence stones going down.
Will try them first thing in the morning and if no joy I will inform them I will be contacting the Council.

You just dont put up with blocked drains, as onehandycall says.  Why should you?
Report it to the site owner, and if he doesnt respond within a reasonable time scale (which could be hours if its blocked toilet drains), then report to the local environmental health dept (or whatever they may be called today).
The site owner has a responsibility that he must live up to, he also has a park site licence issued by the council.
Past owner on "my" site disrespected the home owners re foul drains blocking, street lighting, and road conditions. Council got involved and he was taken to court 3 times and fined heavily 3 times.  He has since sold on to a new park owner who has put these things right - part of the conditions on the issue of his licence from the council.

Just a quick update on Drains called them this afternoon and was told they where trying to get hold of one of the maintenance chaps to come out.
I informed them if no one was out today I was calling the council and low and be hold someone turned up and rode the main drain without even touching mine he then came round and said that should be it when I checked the water had gone he said that this main drain is a problem and he will check it weekly to insure it is clear.
Will be keeping an eye on ours and if it returns will let everyone know.
It really amazes me that the attitude of the staff and owner are basically it will get done when it suits them no at the end of the day we pay for a service and expect a service and if they dont like it then look for another job or business to get into.
Think its about time they get educated in customer services and then everyone would get on a lot better.
At the end of the day we are not second hand citizens as many seem to think grin and bear it
Many Thanks for everyone's advise
